Thread: My LCD screen project, boost, WBO2, Knock, etc

Update: On firmware1.9, I managed to read stored DTC codes on my 99 3000GT VR4 ECU. I only get 9 errors, but when I use Evoscan it shows an additional 2 more errors. I'm a bit puzzled as to why this is so, I'm speculating Evoscan is including "pending DTC" with the stored DTC codes. I'll resume testing when the rain storm passes.

My car started stumbling really bad yesterday during a drive to the store and I was puzzled as to what the cause was. My front fuel trims went really lean (50) and my rear fuel trims showed very rich (150). Next I noticed there was no activity on the rear O2 sensor. Bingo, my rear O2 sensor died. My front O2 sensor died two years earlier and as a quick fix I substituted it with the narrow band O2 simulation from my WBO2 located in the collector. Having instant data access to the ECU certainly has come handy as my car gets older. I've solved two problems with it so far. Last year it revealed my alternator voltages was bad and I didn't even know there was a problem.

    List of things to do:
    1. Build new version / test dataloging capabilities.
    2. Make it compatible with Nissan. I have all documentation ready to do so.
    3. Spy AEM EMS serial communication and make it AEM compatible.

I am glad you have the 99 ECU! I am waiting for my null modem adapter to arrive so I can upgrade the firmware so I can read codes too.

I think I will install mine soon, for those who have already installed, where is the best place for the pressure sensor hose to tap into?

Hey, I about have the rest of the work done on my car so in the next week I should be on the road.

    1. Can I get the null modem adapter at Radio shack?
    2. Is there a firmware update I need on my unit?

    Thanks

If you already have an electronic boost controller then just use the line that you used for that. If not cut your boost gauge line and use a T connector.

    1. Yes
    2. Have a look on that site he posted and see if theres a newer version then on yours. When you have it all hooked up hold the rotating button down when turning the car on and it'll show the version number.

You know what would be nice. A screen that showed a graph of boost vs rpm, kinda like the little graph that comes up on the peak boost screen. But if it had marks so you could tell the rpm the boost is falling off.
