    Hey question throwing it out there! can one relocate the "knob" control and wire it into something else? Oohhh Let's say...the ecs button? I have coil overs so the button is non existent for me lol would love to use it for my switch instead of twisting the knob for selecting items on the lcd

    why not? just remove the ecs button and put the rotary knob there. I think people have done it if I'm not misstaken.

    Yeah, someone has done it before. I think they said they wished the knob shaft was a little longer to make it fit better. I think the shaft is 12mm long, but there's nothing stopping you from replacing the rotary encoder with another brand.

    I put mine where the cigarette lighter was. Removed the cigarette lighter asm and inserted a 1" plastic plug with a hole in the center. Fit's like a glove. Question though. What's the diameter of the shaft? I sent my car out to the paint shop so I don't have it handy to make a measurement and I want to order a knob. I thought I read it someplace but can't find it now. I'm thinking of ordering one of these solid aluminum knobs from Digi-Key.

    Rotary Encoder specs

    Early models had shorter shaft (10mm I think), today the shafts are longer (12mm).

    * Rotary Shaft Length: Approx. 12mm / 0.04"
    * Shaft Full Length: Approx. 20mm / 0.07"
    * Shaft Diameter: Approx. 6mm / 0.02"
    * Size (L x W): Approx. 15 x 11mm / 0.05 x 0.04 inch
    * Output: 2-bit gray code

    OK. That could be a back up solution...I appreciate the help guys! but I meant instead of the rotary set up I wanted to wire it directly into the wires to the ecs button so I can push the button and scroll thru the options lol

    @Blackstealth is there a detailed wire map available for your set up my friend? If I knew which wire did What for the rotary plug I may be able to fabricate (and share lol) the direct wiring.of your unit to those buttons

    I don't thing it is possible to wire it up because the ECS does not rotate.
