5-10-11 Lapping day at Pacific Raceways in WA State

    Went a racin on Tuesday!

The track was dry all day, sun broke through around 10:30, temperature was 65, it was superb. The turnout was very small, around 20 cars, meant for TONS of track time.

I recently put new brakes on the car, they are Supercar Engineering's WIDE rotors. They are stock diameter and still use stock calipers, but they are 5mm wider and 2 pc, the center hat is aluminum and this all helps dissipate and handle more heat. Literally, I could not believe how well they performed. I thought I was using enough pedal pressure last year, I wasnt getting into the ABS though. Yesterday it felt like I dropped a 5 ton anchor out the hatch, I couldnt believe the stopping power the car had. I seriously was screaming out loud at how awesome they were. They didnt fade a lick, I lapped for 180 miles and the rotors hardly even wore (the pads sure did though, lol).

    Ok, onto the pictures.

    All ready to go!

Showed up at the track, unloaded, ready to rock.

This is what my tires looked like after the first session. The outside 1/3 of the tire had some previous camber/toe wear so they may have worn evenly at the track, but wear was not even to begin with.

This is what they looked like at the end of the day. Lol

Erk Gross showed up in the parking lot about 20 minutes after I got there, what a coincidence! We normally check each others schedules and try and show up on the same day but we didnt coordinate this time, was just chance.

After our lunch break the course director asked us if we would like to go down to turn 5a/5b and do a turn study, wow what an eye opener. The guy who presented it to us is about as experienced you can get, has raced for 40+ years I'm sure. He spent 45 minutes with us going over the mechanics and physics and technique of how to perform it properly, and a lot of it stuck! I was able to really concentrate on this turn and apply what he taught us, was able to go through carrying a lot more speed than before.
The weather was incredible, I couldnt get over how nice it was. Here they are.

    All lined up, class begins!

    A blind left turn

This is the entry to 5a, going around 70 mph

70 mph coming out of 5a

Here is a video of it, Thanks Erik! I need to work on coasting less and either being on the throttle or brake, nothing in between, you can really tell I am not on the gas most of this vid. Just another thing to work on!
