Post mounting the oil cooler sideways

I've got an impression that its ok
as long as you position the oil cooler so that the outlet is higher than the inlet so that air bubbles don't get caught in the oil cooler.

Is there something else I should take into consideration ?

If it is mounted sideways, the inlet should be on the bottom. So it fills from the bottom up. That is the way all the manufacturers recommend oil coolers and tranny oil coolers. They want them like that or with inlet and outlet on the top.

I´m worried about that the oil in the cooler flow back into the oil pan when engine is not running
but i´m thinking that if I run the lines higher than the cooler the oil should not flow back.
    kinda like this

You could run the bottom line up to the top of the cooler to stop the cooler draining if it`s an issue?.

i dont know if its a real problem but this cooler holds plenty of oil. if all the oil in the cooler flows back to oil pan i would get false oil dip stick reading..

I wouldnt worry about it going backwards through the cooler, then the lines, then the OFH. Many people have coolers mounted sideways. Just put the feed line into the lower port.

You are on the right track here. Without a check valve that is what will happen.
