Split Second Water to Air Intercooler Info Thread...

I just paid a visit to your site and noticed a new intercooler kit option. Split Second Motorsports - Performance Parts

I'm interested in expoloring this option and have lots of questions...

Do you have more info or installed pictures of the kit?
    Size of storage Tank?
    Assumed tank mounting location?
Power requirements and mounting location for pump?
    Heat exchanger mounting location?
    Kit weight?
Overal weight at full fluid capacity (water)?
    Efficiency rating?
Boost drop and turbo lag/spool as compared to air to air?
Weight comparison vs. Air to Air FMIC?

    Thanks ahead of time...

    Jeremy

Assumed tank mounting location? Rear Hatch passenger Side
Power requirements and mounting location for pump? 12V switched ignition
Heat exchanger mounting location?in place of an FMIC fills mouth of any 3s bumper
    Kit weight?
Overal weight at full fluid capacity (water)?depends if you run the ice box which is not necessary for street use
Efficiency rating? 20% cooler without ice box (street driving in traffic)
Boost drop and turbo lag/spool as compared to air to air?(less then .5 psi drop)
Weight comparison vs. Air to Air FMIC?(12 lbs heavier due to water without ice box)

What's the capacity of the icebox?

    Overall weight of the unit?

20% cooler intake charge temp without the icebox. Would it be fair to say he AIT charge temps in the 70's on just water and sub 50's with icebox?

DO you have any install pics?

You can easily make your own. I making my own and using cores from these people which specialize in water/air intercoolers. Great site from reference

Yes you can this site has some nice products. but unless you are as skilled as oohnoo I would not suggest this route. here is the price breakdown of what you would need to come close to our kit if purchased from that site

300.00 for the core needed but it would have to be modified unless you know how to weld aluminum
about 30.00 building a nice bracket setup to mount the unit
    140.00 in pipe
another 80.00 in couplers and clamps
    150.00 for heat exchanger
    50.00 pump
    120.00 for ice box
and about 100.00 in hose (if you are using the ice box ) if not then about 20.00

so about 1000.00 in cost from this site
    plus shipping

I don't know about that whole make your own for cheaper Bob. I looked into it and could definitely make my own. It would run about $750 in parts alone. Icebox, Charge Tank, Heat Exchanger, 30' of 5/8" Braided Hose and (4)fittings, pump, sheet metal / tube, and wiring is about $750. The piping, mounting bracket, warranty, and shipping makes it worth it. Hell, they charge under $900 shipped for 3/S members. To me that's totally worth it and I couldn't do it for much cheaper. Hell they prolly only make $50 on the whole deal.
