NEVER stay at a Marriott. EVER.

at $200 per night, i would have expected a certain modicum of service. instead, i'm suffering under THE ABSOLUTE WORST ISP wi-fi i've ever endured at any hotel/motel i've ever stayed at--bar none.

i don't know if any of you know who ibahn is, or what they do--but i will NOT patronize any establishments they service--marriott included. work as put me up at one for an extended stay. upon attempting to hook up my game console to their wifi, i discovered that it times out after 24 hours and cannot be re-initiated on my end. this means my options are:

    1. calling tech support every single day so that i can have them restart my connection so that i can get my console to work--which is a 15 minute procedure at best.

    or

    2. paying an additional fee to have them "unlock" the connection node (remove code protection) so that i can use my console or other devices freely. did i mention that the speed is already 56k slow...and that it hardly warrants paying for such piss-poor quality?

fuck marriott. fuck ibahn. i will NEVER stay at one of my own volition; and i would encourage any and everyone to avoid them like the plague.

When I stay at a hotel, it's usually the bed and room that's important. You yanks sure have your priorities messed right the hell up!

if i were staying one night, or even a week...i wouldn't care that much. since i'm going to be here for quite some time...the bed & room are not the only factors of importance to me. how the hell they can designate a hotel like this for long-term stays, while offering the shitty amenities they do--baffles me.

What a crybaby. If you don't like having to take a whole 15 min to get internet, then you should become a Gold or Platinum level member so you don't have to worry about it, it's always on and you get free room upgrades... not that you care about the actual room...

No shit. You're in a hotel and bitching about ability to connect your game console? Dude, go outside. You're away from home. Take advantage of this.

like i alluded to...i didn't choose the hotel. i would have been a bit more selective. and it's not a 15 minute, one-time process to get it connected; it's an EVERY SINGLE DAY ORDEAL. so if, say, i wanted to watch netflix while eating supper...i now have to endure the asspain of getting it connected--on top of the pain of how insufferably slow the speed is (i.e. i can finish eating before the damn show cues). gold/platinum members get the same shitty connection speed. i know this because i'm working with several of them. i would sooner buy wireless broadband than shell out any additional coin for the crap ibahn offers. my $35/day motel in kissimmee had a room with nearly the same amenities, and the wifi was vastly superior. not that i expect to stay for $35/day in this particular locale...but for $200/day, i would have expected much better.

    p.s.

hymen, if you expect that i'm going to spend the next several months sightseeing...EVERY DAY...you're delirious. even if i spent every single off-day out & about, i'd still spend a large portion of my time in my room on work-days; and that's when i want to be able to watch netflix on the tv. but i guess if you've never spent a consecutive season or two cooped up in a studio-size room with a pathetic excuse for an ISP...you wouldn't have the foggiest clue.

I could see spending 15 minutes a day dicking with these idiots on the phone pretty damn annoying.

Can you do anything to keep it from timing out? (other than pay them more)

i've elevated it up the chain at ibahn. i've yet to hear further words. to be fair, this hotel has been cooperative in most other matters. i'm mainly shocked that a 4-star hotel is offering internet service which would have been par for the course 5-7 years ago.

wow... really? I'm sure they don't take gaming into consideration when offering free internet service.
