Did anyone hear of this? Taliban offered us bin Laden in October of 2001 if we'd stop bombarding the hell out of them??? Bush turned them down!!! We could have saved ourselves that entire war.

I'm not sure why people are so surprised that Osama was shot dead and not captured. If you are firing a gun against the military and you keep firing, eventually you are going to get dead. I'm sure he knew what his fate was going to be if he just surrendered.

And it makes perfect sense why they only carried his body out. They wanted to get DNA and pictures to prove who they shot. I don't think the military normally drags dead terrorists back on a regular basis, but obviously they need to go the extra mile for all the conspiracy nut jobs out there.

imho, there needs to be at least a photo of his body released. that's no different than releasing pictures of dead gangsters during the prohibition. it's proof, it's sufficient.

i agree that he's better off dead. we don't need the hassle of having him alive. and as jeremy alluded to, this is a region of the world that only responds to aggressive force. killing him transmits that message very clearly.
