not bad....but the resolution is piss-poor for that size, and i'm sure the GPU is a pile of horsedung--not to mention the hard-drive is slow (7200rpm min, imho). i LOVE my msi 15.6"...but there's no way i'd have bought it if it didn't have a 5870 & at least 1080p resolution.

7200? please... Cmon get an SSD drive... why do you need the resolution? This would be a software development machine... speed is king.

That's a pretty good deal. I think I would drop a new HD in it and call it a day.

ask everyone that same question about the iphone4. i mean, i don't even like apple...but there's a reason for the resolution.

I've said this in about every thread you complain about screen resolution.... MOST consumers don't care. Until they do and start buying more expensive models to get the better screens then nothing is going to change, and YOU will still be paying more for you gaming video card/screen.

I have NEVER in my life had a customer come in looking for 1080p 15" screen on a laptop. granted I get more business oriented customers, and every day joe's than college kids or gamers.

That is a killer price for an i7 laptop.
Edit: its only an i5.... still a good deal though for a sandy bridge.

Personally, I need high res because I can't stand working on a "small" screen. With the higher res, I can fit more on my 15.4 or 15.6" screens.

I can't stand it either when i get on my computer at work and the screen is set to 1024x768 or even 800x600.

this x 1000. screen real-estate is a big factor for me. even if it wasn't...having a higher resolution screen means that the same size image/gif/icon is displayed with a larger pixel count, rendering it sharper, crisper, clearer. yes, i know i'm the minority. i also know that 6 years ago, business laptops had higher resolutions than today's offerings. i'm baffled by consumer's welcoming of reverse-progress in mobile computing.
