I use Linux as my desktop OS at work.

I have to say if I could play windows games easily I'd probably load it at home.

Installing Windows 7-64 right now. XP64 was too glitchy and finally ticked me off.

I work with Windows and Linux at work. Linux definitely has its advantages, particularly with compiling code and executables.

I'm running Win 7 64 bit on my machine at home. I really like it. I did run Ubuntu off the CD for diagnostics when I first built my computer though.

    Correct.

There were no drivers for some of my hardware, forcing unsupported drivers to work caused several glitches and BSODs at random. Very strange operating system. It's like they threw XP64 out there to get a "64-bit" operating system to market quickly, then they dropped it and moved on with Vista/7.

users demanded a 64 bit home OS - it was basically just server 2003 64 bit repackaged. i ran it for a while, some of the "unsupported" things were fun challenges. moved directly to win 7 enterprise x64 at work and home and havent looked back.

but back on topic - what are you running for video card, alan? integrated or are you running an nvidia or ati (amd) gpu?
ATI would totally be the way to go with that AMD X6. i've been running two xfx 5850s on crossfireX for almost the past year and have been loving them.

I wouldn't worry about DX11. I ran it in a couple of games and really didn't see much of a difference.
