Clutch issues?

I haven't considered this a problem because the car drives fine its just a little weird.

When I shift the clutch does not engage like you would think. Let me explain.
When I shift my neon it engages as fast as I can shift. On my base it seems I can shift the car fast, hit the gas, and it takes 1/4 of a second to hear the "thump" of it engaging (is this right?), Does it need to be adjusted or what?

Every car is different. Every 3S is different. The VR4 bites as soon as I let up. The NA almost doesn't bite at all.

Fluid age, clutch material, system design, they all play a role in how the clutch engages. You can't compare one single car to yours... not even another 3S.

Adjustment is easy & free, I'd try that first.

Oh it engages like the clutch is made for 400 horsepower or something. It gives a big thump as well.

I'm just saying it seems I let the clutch out, then it grabs. Its never let go and always performs great it's just a little weird.

There is a dampener in the clutch hydraulics.

it is designed to slow the flow of the hydraulic fluid when the clutch pedal is operated quickly, so there may be some small amount of perceived delay in the clutch actuation.
