Do you tell people your crank or wheel horsepower?

Just curious what you guys say? After getting my car dynoed(finally), I find that saying the hp it put down leaves the general public confused. I say x, they say wow I would have thought it would be more. Then I have to explain whp vs crank etc. It's a pain. I'm thinking about just saying the crank hp. I have a feeling then I'll get issues with people who know what they are talking about and they will start to argue my drivetrain loss estimation.

I've been through the whole "I thought it would have been more" talk one too many times as well. However, I feel like WHP is a better description of what your car is actually capable of, due to drivetrain loss. Plus, how many people actually use the crank dynos on their engines? I can't think of many, so my vote goes for giving WHP numbers that you can back up with a dyno sheet, rather than some calculation of what you think it should be at the crank based on WHP. It feels like more of a "real" number to me, if that makes any sense.

I use whp. factory manufacturers use crank, but thats to inflate their numbers. a stock mustang 5.0 is 418 crank, about 370-380 wheels. Might sound better to say crank, but if they say "shoulda been more" then say put your money where your mouth is and stop being a dyno queen!

I just say it has 900hp....even though it doesn't.

Toni, just tell them XXXAWHP followed by XXXhp at the crank (If they are a car dunce). If they know cars just say AWHP.

How much did you make? Edit: never mind, I just saw you said you are getting ready to dyno.
