Thread: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread

Vancouver looks strong. Even after spending the whole 1st period on the penalty kill, they still managed to win. Luongo is winning these games for them.

Its crazy how despite everything, every year sucess in the playoffs comes down to goaltending.

    Dead. For now.

Yeah the officiating has been shitty. The Wings-Yotes on Saturday was ridiculous on both sides. There were a couple obvious calls - some slashes, etc. - but all the interference, roughing, etc. were MORE than subjective. The refs really took control of that game, stupid.

Either way, 2-0 Wings, ready to send the yotes back to Winnipeg.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

We didnt play well yesterday. we were outshot nearly 3-1 by Nashville but the final score was 4-3 in their favor. we didnt play the full 60 min hockey game but it is frustrating when the calls are just not being made - you just get thrown off your game.

hopefully things turn around on wednesday, although with the way things are going, I dont think it looks good for us.

I'd like to start seeing more video reviews for penalties. I'd also like to see players get fined for "drawing" a call. Hockey is the new soccer.

I agree. No respect for those "drawing" penalties.

Detoit and Vancouver pretty much won their quarterfinals. It will take a miracle for either Chicago or Phoenix to win.

the Ducks' GM "jokingly" commented during an interview that Anaheim should follow suit, as Nashville's players pretty much dive for the ice the instant they feel a stick next to them.

Its just part of the game. Always has been and always will be. And actually its a lot harder than it looks. Making it look believable that is, if you are truely trying to draw a penalty.

I agree though. Its the playoffs. Let the soft and even moderate stuff go and let them play.
