My 99 3000GT lost overdrive.

Hello everybody. It's great to be here. I have a 1999 3000GT, automatic trans. About 1 month ago, the transmission would not inguage. This happened all the sudden. I was told that it may be due to my transmission fluid and filter being old. I changed them both and sure enough, the transmission worked again..... except it will not go into overdrive. When overdrive should enguage, it is like nutrual. My thinking was that when the new fluid got to it, it would start working again like the others did. It has been driven many miles now and still no overdrive. Before the problem began, when I lost every gear, it worked perfectly. Does anyone have any ideas of what has happened?

I appreciate your help. I looked on the site you but I could not find an end clutch so I called my local Mitsubishi dealer and they told me it will be $350 for everythign I will need and it has to be ordered. I will look again on the site you recommended. How sure are you that this is my problem? Thanks

It's a very common issue. Call up the guys at IPT. They have the parts for about $100.

He'a about 100% certain that is your problem. If overdrive is engaged, your car will act like it is in neutral. With overdrive disengaged, you will have gears 1-3. That is a tell-tale sign of a bad end clutch.

Thanks everybody. I really appreciate it. I'll call IPT and get the parts ordered. If I may ask one more thing. I have a cracked front bumoer and I want to get a new one. Do you know of an inexpensive place I can get it from?

you can buy new ones for dirt cheap now--from almost any place that stocks them. inventory is being eliminated.
