Split Second Motorsports "Fatty" Intake manifold.

Looks like a superb product for an unreal price. Have been told from Chatz that this fits under the stock hood aswell even on a 3.5L! (which is excellent to know!)

I know I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but does anyone else have one of these? Can you provide any feedback on the product? If I got this I'd be using there lay-a-way system so I wouldn't have it until xmas time, but hell who cares.

The manifold looks the goods with a mucher bigger end tank, port matched TB opening and shorter runners (for themz high RPMz )

Just yes, before I lay down the cash would like to get some feedback, hopefully someone else has one!

That is nice, But that's a lot bones.
For that price you could fab your own.
There are a ton of runners that fit these motors in the bone yards. Fat short ones from NA and longer tube VR4 stylr runners.Get the runnes extrude honed if you wish for larger.
Now for a Plenum. I use 4.00 OD alminum pipe. That's a full 2 liters. Not costly at all. For a throttle body I used a 3 in. (75 mm) Cobra Mustang. They are like $99 buck on Ebay, and 1/5 the weight of that CNC billet 70mm. An Adpator plate from Nippon. and off the welders.
If you use 2 adapter plate as I, you can always have the ability to try any throttle set up any time.

I have pics of a stock manifold modded for that CNC billet throttle body if you wish for pics of it.
Or make a box and use NA runners

I wonder why nobody has tried making an LSX style manifold that tucks nicely into the valley.

Yes that for our Tib. It's a really good power adder. It was at NG10. That was the Tib that beat VR440sealth. LoL. VR440 red lighted.
Here is a pic of a VR4 intake I just did for that CNC 70 mm throttle body.

Wizard - Reason I opted against the Mustang TB Is I simply wanted something that bolted on out of the box that utilized all of the OEM sensors. I had already started dicking around with an XF falcon TB (1988ish in australia) which you can get from the wreckers for $20 or so but the amount of work in involved was enough for me to leave it.

I mean, If I was to utilize stock NA runners, what would it cost for an aluminum welder to put it all together? That's why this option appeals to me. Ready to go, nice looks, bolts up, I don't have to worry about a thing. I'm getting to the stage with this car now where customizing every single thing that goes on the car is appealing less and less to me.

I doubted anyone would of had one of these intakes, but thought I'd try! Now with an N/A engine, for high RPM applications, What is the proffered runner length and end tank size?

As far as runner legth and plenum size. Really depends a lot on your gearing and what type of racing you are doing. Where is it that you want the power band. Plenums are most times 1/3 the total displacment, or 1 liter for 3 liter motor. This maintain good plenum velocities. So too large can hurt. I am using 2 liters for testing and so far like the reasults. I could have hurt my power and my be why my torque is low. I just have to do more testing to find out.
There are formulas to calculate lets say Max power at 9000 RPM. But the bottom line will be trying to tune to your intake and to your exhaust. Finding those sweet spots with adjustable cam gears.
It is always going to be trial and arror. 1 thing that is most over looked is the exhaust. Following the BMW M5s in prep for racing. They will drop the 3.in exhaust and bolt in a 2.75 system. This hurt their top end just a little, But through the turns on the track they had Gobbs more torque to play with and ended up with better overall track times. That CNC throttle body is a nice bolt on. But still need to mod the opening of the intake to use it.

I don't do much racing at all *cough maybe a bit on the freeways cough*. Gearing is the standard 12v SOHC V6 5sp FWD gearbox. I want my powerband from around 3500RPM upwards.
I will need to do a bit of googling to find a calculator that can give me a rough result of what I'm after. And Yep, always trial and error! My exhaust system is nothing fantastic but does the job. downpipe > 3" high flow meow meow > 2.5" mandrel bent to the rear axle, then splits to each side with 2 x 2" piping (press bent) to 1 redback muff each side.

I am more-so a straight line person right now but I really just want to get the best out of this engine, doing it right, but on a mild budget (i.e. not uber cheapskate)

Personally, from your viewpoint, would the fatty manifold be suitable?

I would love to bolt it on and run with no orther changes. I do like what I see so far. I just wish I could look down it's throate. I would like to see how the face of the tubes were welded.
Would also like to see the runner ends to see how they match up to our lower runners. I vote for you to get it and let us know your real world reasults. LOL. What RPM do you shift at?
