This is the exact reason I cant put up with the army any more. This is also the reason no one votes. Because even those who did, and voted for the people who lost, aids in making you feel less valued as a citizen. I am just tired of 8 years with having someone else have a say about my life. Yes I gave it up to do something. But now after how I have seen the light, I demand my pay to continue. And now this. Awesome.

It's only gonna be like a week... no one has a weeks pay saved? Thats not the govt's fault. This happened in the 90's, it happened in the 80's its always going to happen, us govt employees have it good, but its not a 100% sure thing.

3700 people from PSNS got a letter today, I didnt, I feel lucky, I'm going to work next week, going to get paid next friday for the last 2 weeks I have worked (full paycheck) and after that I may recieve a partial check, and then a bigger check a month from now. I have been deemed essential, will show up to work, pay will accrue but I wont get it. Others get an entire week off, unpaid, and then they will come back and get retroactive pay....

Navy Federal Credit Union is forwarding all active duty sailors the 7 days pay the govt isnt giving them this check. Their pay will be retroactive, every single active duty sailor (i cannot speak for the other branches) will have pretty much zero negative consequences from this event.

I'm gonna look on Craigslist tonight and see what kind of deals I can find Someones gotta be sellin a TV cheap! rofl.

Your right navy fed is advancing us pay, but what if they bicker about this again for another 2 weeks and the 1st rolls around? There is no guarentee that this will only last a week...

That is what we are worried about.. or have you ever had your pay messed up? I have... and they like to wait MONTHS to fix it.. but will take in DAYS.

This can royaly fuck people.. as yea I have savings.. but when I have $2000 a month in living expenses(rent, food, power, water)

    Savings goes away really fast.

There really is no future for any federal employee as long as we have this deficiet hanging over our heads. And that will be like 30 years or so. So if you do not like your pay and benefits being challenged every year by the entire American public that pay you then get out of public service. In the end we all have the power to choose and vote.
You vote in some of these matters simply with your feet by not playing their game. Get out. If you stay on it validates the position they are putting you in.
What do I mean by that? Simple the contention is that federal pay and benefits exceed what you can get in the private sector. If you stay in public service even under the duress of the current system then you validate that statement. If the majority begin to leave well then it implies that statement is not true or not true enough to retain public workers under the stresses of the current system. Either the stress has to be addressed or the pay and benefits improved to the retention level when viewed from the employer aspect.

I understand the troubles of having pay disrupted. It is no different for any federal employee. This is not just a military problem. The system (government) can change and will change when it needs to not when we want it to. So again if you stay on in federal service and politics being what they are and the debit being what it is and as long as taxes remain low the government will never have enough cash on hand to operate in the black. And this kind of treatment will become common place throughout your career.
