Not sure about location just yet, we're going to look at a few options. Currently the Odyssey is located in the passenger side rear seat well. If the battery is relocated from the stock position it has to be secured to the structure of the car and it has to have an enclosure around it that seals it off from the driver. These rules are sooo antiquated as they reflect more on old lead acid type batteries than dry or gel batteries, but that is one of the regs we have to abide by.

We have just re-wired the fuse panel to the bulkhead inside the car behind the passenger side airbag cover, so maybe behind the dummy glove compartment.

Michael, here's a link with all the specs etc.

Tell me, but what a piece of kit and how fast does it recharge?! The cranking amps are pretty high too. The daft thing is I probably could have gone for the 15p or maybe even down to the 10p which only weighs 1.7kg

There was discussion of making your own Battery using A123 Cells, don't think any of us want to be the one to pioneer putting explosives in our cars though!

Ive built one for a small electric vehicle. It is not hard at all. You just have to get a battery management system to integrate in and everything is safe as can be. I built a tiny 36V for 200+donated A123 batteries.

Just a little on development upgrades to whet the appetite.

This year I have focused on where I could reduce weight to a) make the car quicker but b) lower the moment of inertia at launch thus reducing stress on the drive train and hopefully brake less! Last year I broke 5 transfer cases, 1 cf propshaft and smashed a gearbox into 6 bits.

    Anyway, on the list are:

CF tailgate with 3mm lexan window
    Rear wiper delete
    No rear spoiler
2 x 3" side exit exhausts unsilenced exiting just behind the front wheel arch
Lithium ion Super B battery weighing only 7 lbs but enough grunt for a 4.5L engine!
Race cell weighing only 5 lbs
Lightweight nylon overbraid PTFE fuel hose with crimped ends
Brakeman Revolution brake system (more on the weight below)
Mickey Thompson Pro5 ET 15x8 drag wheels weighing 10 lbs each
Hoosier Quick Time Pro tyres 26x9.50x15 weighing 17 lbs

oh and me! dropped 26 lbs already LOL

In total I am guestimating 300-325 lbs and hoping to have to add ballast to make the minimum weight of 1451 kg including driver. This will allow me to place it right at the front which should improve front wheel traction. Also to help with front wheel traction I might investigate suspension travel limiting straps for the front.

The new brakes are truly ZERO drag calipers too.

    Weight savings are

    Front rotors 22.8 lbs
    Front calipers 12 lbs
    Rear rotors 17.2 lbs
    Rear calipers 6.8 lbs
    Drag wheels 16 lbs
    New Drag tyres 24 lbs

That equates to nearly 100 lbs of unsprung mass including 80 lbs of rotational mass!

    Here's some eye candy
