    No intake pipes... drawbacks?

I know people do it. Tug does it, DCIV has reported doing it. But what negatives are there from slapping small turbos directly on the compressor inlet of each turbo and running it that way?

Matt Monet reported losing about 40HP by doing it on the dyno, but his car was pushing 1030HP at the time, so that's just not something I would want to compare the drawbacks to.

My main dilemma is this. Space, for one. I just converted to blow through. I really don't see the sense in spending $300 on some polished no MAS intake pipes. The other problem is that my BOV is now sitting directly above where the stock MAS would sit, so even a large filter, like the one Forest posted in his thread, wouldn't work. The BOV wouldn't clear it.

So, unless there are some serious side effects, I think I might just do it. I'll need to figure out what to do with the breather hose on the rear valve cover of course.

Vacuum reduction, Powdercoated misc, cruise relocate, Evo9 BOV, Custom catch cans, Russell fuel filter, SS braided fuel lines, High flow fuel loop, Autogage fuel gauge, Catless DP, DNP Y-pipe, Fuel pump hotwire.

I would put some kind of filter on each turbo at the very least. Maybe some wire mesh?

also keep in mind that matt M ran his turbos just completely bare. most small k&n filters have a venturi cone which should help smooth the airflow.

Ive seen Hennessey put the filters right on the turbo for there SRT8 turbo jeeps so i guess it should work ok on a 3S. as far as the breather hose that used to go to the pre turbo intake pipe, just trim it back really close to the valve cover and put on one of these

i'm of the opinion that intake tubes help airflow into the turbos to be smoother.

Turbos need straight air. Turbulence kill power. They will work more efficiently if they have an inlet tube versus no tube or just a filter or a screen.

I've seen some DSM guys do it too. My only issue with the breather filter is that I want vacuum in the crank case. The filter wont allow a vacuum to build up during boost.
