For those looking to upgrade to Windows 7...

    Windows 7 Student Discount

Microsoft has brought back their amazing student deal. All that you need is a .edu email and you can have the upgrade 100% legit. I did this over a year ago and this is the first time I've seen the deal pop up since.

Is that a full copy or just the anytime upgrade? I looked but didn't see anything about it.

Ponder, I cannot answer that 100% but when I upgraded to Windows 7 in the past it was partially because I found the killer deal but also because XP wasn't accepting my valid CD Key. I can definitely tell you that upgrading it from XP, with or without the XP key activated, works because that's exactly what I did. I have reformatted since and BELIEVE, but cannot be sure, that I did a clean install from the bootable iso that you are receive a link to in your .edu email once you order the upgrade.

    After looking at this:

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version - Windows 7 Forums

it seems that you can do a clean install. They mention requiring the previous activated version (XP, Vista) but when I did it initially I know I wasn't activated yet on XP, though I do have a legitimate key.

    I hope this helps

I was able to do a clean install. I also got Windows 7 Ultimate for $9.99 from the University Union store. Too bad I could only get one copy.

It's always going on, they just change the link occasionally. Just have to do a search for Windows student discount on Google and you can find it. I bought a copy about a year ago, it's an "upgrade" but you can do a clean install with it IIRC.

don't forget about the 3 pack home upgrade...

You can get that deal for like 120-130$...

thats 3 full "home" edition upgrades from newegg..

If you want A TON... get the technet 1 year...

it gives you 2 licences that are yours to keep to a ton of MS products, office, windows etc...

Microsoft Technet Standard 2010 1-User Software (Free Keys to Windows 7 OS, Office, & MORE) $178.82 Deal - Reviews and Compare Prices

    PC Connection Express - Detail

The technet licenses work as so.... You get 2 licences per product(2 win 7 homes, 2 win 7 pro's. 2 win 7 etc etc.., 2 office, 2 everything non enterprise(windows server 2008 can also be used on a desktop, sql server 2008, exchange server, sharepoint, etc).

And you get new releases during the year... BUT after a year you cannot request more keys(which means request them all and save them... And you cannot "redownload" the software you want to install after your subscription expires.) and you only get 10 "activations" per key to reinstall on a pc.
