Where the fuse for the socket / cigarette lighter?

Yea I know it’s a dumb question, but I don’t see anything labeled with ‘accessory fuse’ or ‘cigarette fuse’. a friend of mine decided to put a nickel down the cig lighter outlet and now it doesn’t work… and im really missing my radar detector lol. i checked all the fuses under the dash and under the hood. nothing is blown but the radar worked fine before he dropped the nickel down the hole, and as soon as i got the nickel back outta the hole it wouldnt work.

Should be #5 in junction block (under steering wheel). 15 amp fuse, last in a row of 5, should say "cigar". You may have shorted out the outlet itself. I think I may have done something similar at some point. I don't think mine works right now.

If I had a "friend" that would do something like that to my car, I'd be rethinking the friendship.

lol well at least i dont feel 100% incompetent now. i tried replacing #5 and #10 fuse. neither the socket or lighter work. what drives me nuts is my stealth is the exact same way. ive never really tried to trouble shoot the stealth because i never had a radar detector in it, but the vr4 used to have a working cig lighter outlet. ill try to Google how to use a multi-meter and check to if the fuse box is even getting power anymore. Im not really sure what to do though if the fuse box is getting power and the fuse isn’t blown. Is it possible that the socket itself can break? I would have though that the circuits weakest link was designed to be the fuse, so the fuse should have blown before any damage happened to the outlet…

As far as my friend goes… he’s not exactly the brightest guy but hes still a decent friend lmfao.

I think it's the fuse marked "head". Seriously.

Multimeter is easy. Put the pos lead where it should have power, the other lead on a ground, and see what the voltage is.
