    Back in a VR4 !

Well kinda. It needs work before she is a driver again. But the project has begun. I just picked up a 1996 3000GT VR4 in dark green metallic w/ two tone black / tan interior. Clean title. 96,xxx miles. Sunroof. New tires, new clutch, new timing belt, new tie rod. Only after market parts I see are a Samco BOV and a K&N air filter.

Car was not running when I bought it. Motor spins free, can hear compression. Previous owner said a timing belt was done and couldn't get it to run right after that. Said he drove it around the block once, then couldnt get it started again, it would turn but not fire. The timing belt covers were off and the valve cover pulled on the front, he was trying to see if any valves were bent.

Now I can see right from the get go it needs:
A windshield, a boot on the steering arm, driver seat upholstery, new motor mounts, passenger side headlight, needs floor mats, looks like the transmission leaks a little. And of course getting the engine running.

Curious to see what you guys think the car is worth ? I think I got it for a good price and have wanted to build one of these for awhile as this is my 4th one.
Now these are some thoughts I have for the build

Pull the motor, Have the heads ported and polished / gone thorugh, check the bottom end while its apart, most likely do rings and bearings while its out, all new gaskets. Rebuild the tranny since all my other ones were a bit notchy with a little over 100k on them. Bigger turbos ( open to suggestions ) down pipe. Front mount with hard pipe kit. Upgrade fuel pump. Boost controller. Injectors ( open to suggestions ).

Already have: Borla exhaust, Apexi NEO air fuel controller, auto meter gauges.

So lets hear some opinions !

i think it'd be worth more if it was olive, not puke green.

if it's immaculate with a blown engine; 5k. if not...3.5k.

Agreed, but I'd go a bit lower because there wouldn't be anyway to know the condition of the drivetrain.

$2500, because you have no idea what you bought aside from a nice shell. I tend to not trust people when it comes to cars. Could of easily disabled the engine to cover up a spun bearing. Not saying he did but you never know.

Not bad man, you're missing a hose clamp on the driver side IC hose. As for turbos and injectors, it all depends on what your goal is for the car hp wise. 450 and below: 15G's w/ 550cc's. 500+: DR750's or 19T's w/ 660cc's. Again it's all about your goal. For a fuel pump, the Denso Supra pump.

Thats good to know I was in the same ball park as you guys are thinking price wise. I was going for $3k on it. I ended up a hair over that, just because the tires are new. About 2 grand below asking price

I am thinking 400 to 450hp. I heard 15g's (possibly ported and clipped ?) or 16g's would be a good choice for this goal. Was seeing people say 550 or 560cc injectors.

Skatter334 : Yes the intercooler pipe is un bolted currently, and the valve cover is un bolted and timing covers pulled, plus drivers side motor mount and the plastic undertray.

InPerfectDarkness : It most likely will not stay green. I have always loved pearl white with the tan / black interior and have done custom paint / bodywork for the last 8 years

400awhp can easily be attained from 15g/16T's.

A hair over 3k is a killer deal regardless of engine condition. Congrats And yes, 550/560cc injectors are a very good match for the turbos/power you are looking to make.
Circa 2005... Oh my, how far I've come
