    Clutch pedal vibration, any ideas?

Out of nowhere last night my clutch pedal started vibrating under a load. I installed solid mounts after my rebuild and have just over 500 miles on it without any problems. The car shifts smooth and has no trouble going through the gears, the clutch engages and disengages fine with no slipping and has about 8000 miles on it(OEM), its just the clutch pedal is vibrating abnormally out of nowhere only when it is let out to engage the clutch. Could the solids possibly have loosened something in the tranny or even the clutch pedal itself because of the vibration? I did have a little bit of throw-out bearing chatter recently too but it only has about 1000 miles on it and figured I could hear it because of the solid mounts. All suggestions are appreciated

It seems now it only happens at higher rpms and both when the pedal is pushed and released

Does your clutch have springs in it? A spung type clutch?

Possible a spring popped loose? Happened to me once.

Edit. Sorry missed the OEM part of the post.

All stock OEM clutches are sprung clutches. Listening to it more, its actually more like a chatter/grind sound that can be felt through the pedal and floor. It only happens when you have it in gear to go forward and start moving forward. I've had a spring go out on me before and I wasn't even able to shift smooth when that happened.

check all of those transmission bolts.

Id also be worried about the flywheel (bolts, resurfaced properly if new clutch, etc) the pressure plate fingers and the release bearing. Usually vibration in the pedal is release bearing, though I had a slew of other symptoms followed by an eventual catastrophic failure when mine went on my NA.

Is the clutch new, did you grease the release bearing?

I had the same issue and just dropped my trans and discovered a clutch alignment/ balance problem. It felt almost like an ABS brake engagement but it was on the clutch pedal. I took it apart and discovered I fused clutch material to the pressure plate and flywheel. The vibration was the bounce from the clutch disc skipping on the obstruction.

If your symptoms are similar to mine I would suspect you have some sort of obstruction between the pp/disc/or flywheel that is causing one of those three things to move out of balance/alignment. My guess as to the vibration is its either the disc hopping till it grabs or the speedbump of from wedged material in there rasing the pressure plate fingers back towards the throw out bearing which causes the clutchfork to bounce like a diving board which sends the vibration back on the slave. The slave modulates and the fluid change causes the pedal to vibrate.

    Just a guess ofcourse...

The clutch isn't brand new, has a couple thousand miles on it but excellent condition. I didn't grease the release bearing though, but it is pretty much brand new. This just happened out of nowhere, that's what's strange to me. In more detail: I push in the clutch pedal, shift into first, let out the clutch and give it a little gas to start moving forward and you can feel a low chatter/clunking in the pedal and floor. Its the same thing in all gears too, but in neutral, coasting, and revving, it doesn't do it at all.

Hmm, worried about not greasing that release bearing. How is your clutch pedal pressure and free play?

You think it's sticking x2? That could certainly be a possibility. Unfortunately there's only one way to find out, and that's not fun...

Not greasing it should cause excess friction, heat, wear, etc. Not a sure thing and im no expert, but it could match the symptoms. Is the clunk like, one clunk or a series of sounds?
