The easiest way to get to that wiring as far as I know is to pull the whole dash out.
I'm guessing you jumpered the black/yellow to the black wire with no results? Did it blow a fuse?
no, nothing turned on, no fuses blew.. i leave the dash unbolted to check if my lights work... if not i can just unplug it, and remove it easily again.
yup, i had a jumper wire going from the black/yellow wire, to the black wire, at the back of the connector plug
I just went through your dimmer switch thread and have some new questions:
1) the box in your video with the green wire that is connected to nothing is in fact an aftermarket alarm, what brand is it?
2) Did the car's gauge lighting work fine until the faitful day you pushed the pop up button?
3) was the headlight pop up button plugged in when you did the jumper wire test?
1.) it doesn't say anywhere.. i thought it was factorylol
2.) Yes the dash lights worked until i pressed the pop up button. I DID fiddle around with the radio a LOT, before i pushed the button.
3.) No, the pop up button wasn't plugged in during the test. But the pop up button still works.
If you shorted the black/yellow wire to ground, aka jumped it to the black wire like we said, but you still didn't get any illumination it would suggest a persisting issue with your wiring.
Take a look at the stereo harness connector where you found the melted wire. I know you replaced the melted green/white wire but I would verify that you still aren't experiencing some shorting within the harness connector itself.
UPDATE!!!
i know its been a while, but i've been very busy to work on my car. Now that i had a chance, i have finally found out the green/white wire is burnt all the way to the fuse box.
I still don't know what plug it goes into, to plug into the fuse box. I have to cut more into the protective harness tape.
I know the green/white wire splices off in 2 different spots before the fuse box, the other wires that are attached to the circuit are not damaged, to let everyone know.
