my iPod Touch has been a pretty much gigantic failboat in the past year. I am far from pleased.

I actually love my laptop/iPod (no blue screens/adware/programs freezing/control alt delete/runs Final Cut well/etc) but they ARE ridiculously overpriced and I don't think they really care about the consumer.

Have to mention that you guys would have loved walking into the store. Dude is having his laptop worked on while he has an iPhone on his hip and playing with his iPad haha Everyone in there was an Apple zombie.

nothing wrong with brand loyalty. it's when that brand loyalty trumps reason...that's when i start making fun of people.

I just had to chime in here...Here is my experience with Apple. I had an iMac that one of the fans started making noise. I took it in and the guy at the "Genuis" bar told me he couldn't hear it. Like you can hear anything inside the store, that place always sounds like there is a concert on the sales floor. So, they hang out to my computer for the techs to check out and I get a call the next day saying they just went ahead and replaced every fan inside for free. Yes, it was under warranty so I expected that. But, as a consumer you have to do your part. If you have a problem, take it in. Don't speak to some jackass on the phone about a hardware problem. What can he do for you? Also, you don't have to take your iWhatever in for upgrades. Inside a Mac is the same thing you would find in any other PC. Do a search for taking apart whatever device you have and you will proabably find it on Apple's site. [/rant] I have been using Apple products for 7 years now and that is the only problem that I have had. Just my $.02
Moving on to reality. Sold my 3KGT, and now I am selling off my parts.

my problem with apple is I've know them for 20 years and they always make something fantastic that works with everything else, then over the long term cut it's usablility with anything else out until your entirely forced to stay with apple products...and then jack the price to 3x anything else....then everyone leaves them...it happened before, watch as it happens again.

note how apple have been blogging that they will stop the ipod (their first great recent product) and now getting close to dropping the macbooks (rumors)...apple don't need you!

Welcome to the concept of what has come to be known as the 'Apple Tax.'

Solution? Buy the computer bare-bones, and upgrade the RAM and hard-drives via NewEgg or other dirt cheap online outlet. Afraid of doing the upgrades yourself? I don't think Apple could have made it any more simple to open the side of a Mac Pro, access panel on the underside of the MacBooks, etc. The argument that Apple makes it purposely difficult to upgrade their computers is dated and inaccurate. Unfortunately (or fortunately for Apple), many people are still generally too afraid of shopping elsewhere for upgraded HD's and RAM, so if you want them to do it for you, it'll cost you extra.

On the flipside - where do you, as an Apple consumer, benefit from this so called Apple Tax? I'll tell you: the resale.

and it's about 99% accurate. i rip on apple all the time, and the sheeple think i'm a hater. my msi laptop would run circles around that mac desktop; and it cost LESS than 1/2 the base price. my laptop would still be faster, even if it came with the 4870 card (my laptop has a 5870 mobile).

you aren't going to make shit in resale. that's the stupidest argument i've ever heard. that's like arguing for buying a corvette brand new. 3 years later, you MIGHT be able to get 1/2 your money out of it.

apple relies on stupidity. intelligent people would know how to install extra hard-drives and memory. but intelligent people wouldn't buy a mac in the first place because they could get a 100% assembled & upgraded desktop PC for 1/2 the cost of the base-model apple.

you know how people always say, "you should have bought a vr4"? same rules apply; only ^eleventy billion.
