    Blessing in Disguise

Anyone that followed my other post will know that over the winter my car was hit by my Dads boss while he was plowing my driveway.
Good news! hes paying for it! My uncle does body work and paint at a dealership and hes going to fix the dent AND paint the entire car! The car will be painted professionally in a paint booth. Hes only charging the cost of supplies. I'd like to get it painted Ferrari Yellow but I don't wanna be a pain in the ass because I know it's gonna be a lot easier to paint the car Pearl White again. However I really want it Ferrari Yellow so I'm going to throw in something to make his time worthwhile. I put away $1200 for when this moment came but I don't think after buying paint, tape, body filler, primer, sanding pads and hobby blades It's going to come to anything over $700. So I'll have some cash to spend on tools. I just don't do professional bodywork and I don't know what kind of tools he would like that he wouldn't already have.

Wow. I also got hit by an unknown plow a few weeks ago. My damage wasn't quite as bad, but I still got $500 out of it which bought my boomslang, MAFT, and wideband

Obviously, post pics of the new paint when it's done.

That's cool you're getting it fixed. +1 for keeping it pearl white! I don't think Yellow with porno red interior would be that appealing to the eye... to each there own.

Probably gonna keep it pearl white. Is there anything I can do about the rubber trim around the windows to make it black and shiny again?

I had the same fade problem on the door strips on my dsm. I picked up some trim paint. It came in a spray can. I got it at the local parts store. I just scuffed up the original coating with some sand paper, taped off around the trim pieces, and sprayed one coat. It matched the original color perfect and has held up awesome for about four or five years now. Hope that helps.

I honestly hate white cars, but you need to keep it white.

I don't know if you've ever researched the cost of paint or anything, but its not cheap. And then doing a complete color change is a pain in the ass. Also, Ferrari yellow and porno red would look like Ronald McDonalds ride.
