has anyone ever run a 4" rt cat on an awd 3/s? just want to make sure there's enough room. pretty sure it's a 5" diameter / 4" inlet/outlet.

i'm not sure i can run enough resonators on it to get it down to acceptable noise levels. i'm also fairly certain that 4" w/ cat will still outflow 2.5" catless--possibly even outflow 3" catless.

so yes....cat. the whole point of this build is that if i can hit 550-600+ easily on pump without exhaust restrictinos, i'll be making an easy 500 AND have it be quiet (relatively). i nearly committed seppuku taking it on an 8 hour road trip with the current exhaust--and i'm far too lazy to get dynamat for the entire car.

sounds like an interesting exercise (pretty much what I'll be doing down the track)

I'm kinda keeping my active exhaust motor just in case I put some butterfly's in my exhaust (extra baffling or something)

shooter83 was (at one point) working on modifying a q45 throttle body to work as an active exhaust for his stealth. he was modding it so that the valve didn't close immediately when he lifted off the gas; which is a major shortcoming to the stock aa system.

The only person I can think of that ran a larger RT cat was Trevor. I don't think it was quite that large though. 5" in the tunnel...I dunno about that. Outside of Trevor you're not going to find anyone running a cat on an exhaust that diameter as it's counterproductive(not knocking what you're up to, but you know what I mean ).

from what I'm aware on this, the resonators don't make the car quieter, just change the requency's of the exhaust note, if you want quiet you need a muffler/restrictor from what I've see one guy was looking at a butterfly which under normal operation was half closed, then when he wanted to go crazy cat he would just open it up...wonder how that went.
