Some people use battery tenders to keep the battery in float mode during long periods of down-time, increases over-all battery life too... I know it's an extra step that can become a hassle, but saving ~20 lbs on a battery is probably some of the easiest weight reduction out there

Sorry for not noticing this sooner, this is the kit that was mentioned. Pictures are of the first tray i made, they still look the same but are made a little tighter to the strut tower than in the last picture so they look a little better now. Also if a few of you are interested in these, i have no problem doing a mini group buy at a reduced price.

some battery tender models have ring terminals that you can attach permanently. I leave the connector poking out from the corner of the headlight so i can plug it in without popping the hood. cheap and smart mod, i got the low current model designed for motorcycles and ATV's.

not being rude or attempting to reduce anyone's sales, but I don't want to have to charge the car, I don't want to have to do any weird wiring (other than what I've already done ) just want set and forgot...

anyone got one of these batteries to sit in the car and start it after 1 -2 months?

That all comes down to the car and the climate, cold weather will kill any battery that sits there for long periods of time. If the car has any thing draining power even when the car is off then yeah, it will probably die.

Also if you are just looking to save a few pounds there are plenty of things that can be easily removed that dont cost you a thing.

The small battery kit is not for everybody, every aftermarket part has positives and negatives, and its up to each person to decide what they want out of there car.

I have had my car sit for 2 months with no problem! I also let I sit for 4 months with the negative side of the battery disconnected and it held a charge. So no problems of yet.

If the battery is new, then you can probably get away with letting it sit for 2 months and then starting... about once or twice. These batteries are not intended to be deep discharge types, and by letting it sit that long, the losses from running an alarm will drain it. I have two connectors hooked up permanently to my battery with a quick connect setup for the battery tender that I crimped on myself. Most of the time, my battery is disconnected, it only takes a few seconds to hook it back up.

If you drive the car daily, a small battery should have no problem starting every day, without having to buy a trickle charger.
