The Monthly "My Car is Running Bad" Thread

Ok guys I am almost positive my problem lies with leaking/bad ECU caps, but I'm just curious if anyone has had any similar problems. I hate electronics and I am really dreading the thought of replacing the caps.

Car is a 92 vr4 with the usual upgrade mods. When driving the car absolutely will not rev past 3000rpm at any boost psi, and will die after letting off the gas.

New NGK plugs gapped to .045"
Engine tone does change if you pull off the plug boot at the coilpack.
Pressure tested at 20 psi, no vaccum leaks.
    New fuel filter.

I'm thinking some possible culprits are the plug wires, coilpack, PTU, MFI relay, & fuel pump.

I logged a little bit hoping to get some info, however I am having computer trouble right now so I will try to post them up later.

Pull your ECU and take a pic of the board inside. If it's nothing that bad, you can find someone here that'll replace the caps for you for a small fee(probably, don't know what people would charge, the set of caps literally costs like $3...). Don't run the car with a bad ECU, it'll screw up all kinds of other stuff.

It's broken ringlands, it's the only reason a car has problems.

It looks like at least one of the caps have been replaced before. Here are some pictures, the only signs of leakage that I can see are from the 100uF cap.

ouch... that ECU board looks pretty chewed up...might need a real electronics place to look into it. That's shitty...though I think you can try cleaning it with electronics cleaner...

That bottom photo shows some real carnage around the one capacitor.

I'm going to shoot AvPro an email to see if they can do something for me, although I'm not counting on it.
