    Launching and your e-brake

Got into a little "debate" with an individual on another forum.

Out of curiosity, has ANYONE had their e-brake ACTUALLY lift up during a launch/hard acceleration?

My vote went to low brake fluid causing the light to flash... my suggestion was very quickly shot down, and I was told "that issue has been talked about plenty on 3si, where the big boys are".

    So... what say you?

you have a good argument. if the brake fluid is low then what is left in the reservoir will run away from the sensor which will momenteraly flash the low level light on.

BUT it has zero to do the the hand brake. the handbrake will not lift.

I had my e-brake lift up a notch during a launch, but that is also because I don't have any e-brakes and the handle has no load on it.

no one is saying they're related. They are trying to say the "brake" light flashes because the e-brake handle lifts up on a launch. I was trying to tell them that it's most likely the brake fluid is low, and sloshing around, causing it to think the level is low, tripping the "brake" light.

You are correct Em, the handle does not move. It is in fact low brake fluid that triggers the "BRAKE" light to flash on a launch. I've experienced it myself, and after topping off the brake fluid the problem immediately went away and hasn't returned.

    Never.

I have a light that won't go away because I messed up on a turbo timer install. haha

edit: speaking of, I'll need to fix that before selling the car.

Neither Hans or I have ever had an e-brake lift on any of our cars. Years ago I thought it was my e-brake... I held it through a "launch" and hard acceleration... still came on... low brake fluid This was back in my newbie days

Yup AFAIK DSM's have the same problem as well. Had to school my bro about it in his noob days with his DSM. Now he knows more about those damn things than I do lol, but his DSM used to break....a lot, so he had plenty of learning opportunities.

I've had my brake handle lift during a hard launch. It rises to light the light but not enough to apply the brake.
