Youre one of the few. Thank you for doing so

Join date isn't worth it. I doubt many of the original people who started on 3Si asked for their join dates to make an email they sent to the mailing lists back before the forum was started. I learned who to listen to be reading (then again, I think I had less than 100 posts in my first year, and spent an average of a few hours a day on the forum in that time).

A join date only shows when you clicked an "I agree" button. Doesn't tell you anything about the person and how much knowledge they have.

The problem here is that some members have taken a different name on this site vs the one they had on 3SI. I like the idea of having our original join date, but then again I am from 2001. It was a bit of a badge of honor to have remained with the platform for that long, as it really shows who is an enthusiast and who is not. Knowledge of the cars is just another perk.

Like other have said. If I see someone with a date before me, I tend to shutup. There are two main types of talkers in this community, those that have been around a while and know what they are talking about, and those that are new and think they know what they are talking about (like golferman, with the ugly a$$ car). Date helps distinguish the two.

I also like to see age. Class of 2009/2010 && Age < 20 means 0 credibility in most cases (no offense to the few who know what you are talking about).

To be fair though, I had a 2004 join date, and I know many people who joined after me that know way more than I do.

Like it's been said before, new site, new join date. It's like going to a Honda site and asking for your 3sgto join dateto be displayed. If we are trying to get away fron the 'other' site then we just need to move on from it.

Fresh start is my vote, if you want your 3Si join date, stay on 3Si.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

Fresh start. If your old join date is so important, put it as your "custom user title."

I joined 3si in 2007 and before rep was reset I had like 6 bars of green, but that's a moot point, this is not an old site, its not 3si, so I feel that everyone should get the join date of sept 2010. Do you go to your current credit card company (say you got their card in 2007) and tell them you want the join date of 1999 on your card because you happened to be using a DIFFERENT credit card company back then? Its the same scenario just with a website.

You have to earn your credibility on here. Its not just going to be given to you because you happened to be on the other site for many years. my .02

Again, wouldn't Alan have to change each persons profile one at a time? We have about 1000 people already here. Not to mention he doesn’t have access to 3si anymore.

Fair enough. I guess the rep system is actually better. We should get that.

Hell no. I would run an automated script to update that info.
