    Turbo Quandary

A little back story. I am waiting on a new 5spd and xfer case from IPS. Hopefully I get it, but that's another topic. I have started tearing into my car with the intention of cleaning the engine bay up like some of you folks in the picture thread. I got to the front turbo and decided to take it out. The turbo is not too bad, it may have some life in it, though it does have some shaft play. The real downer is the manifold is cracked considerably.

Now that being said, I like what eric TT is at with his DR750s. But its obvious I'm going to need a new manifold and don't really see the point of putting another POS OEM one on.

My question, what manifold would you go with? And with the added cost is it worth saving more and getting the DR800 kit? I'm just worried that the DR800s are going to require a considerable amount more mods to get the tq and horsepower down low like the 750s.

stock manifolds are actually pretty good...I'd just get a shop make it perfect again and whack it back on.

I'm with MR2, never heard a bad thing about the stock manifolds. All the other ones are just more expensive.

Well then, that really helps. they have about 130k on them. Think I could get them cleaned up and maybe coated or something so they don't look so nasty?

Yeah that's what i meant. I have always heard the coating doesn't take well to used parts. Maybe I am mis-informed. Thanks for your help everyone!

Ceramic coating can cause heat fatigue in parts because it doesn't allow them to dissipate the heat. I think it's better to wrap or coat stuff you don't want getting hot.
