This MAY be my first n00b Question...

I'm kinda buzzed, but I've been wondering this for the past couple days now, I see a lot of subie guys (subaru) around here (that's the performance car of choice in my area) with lowered cars, look nice, rims flush with the fenders, with about 1/4 inch of clearance...

I know Terry's car (maximal peformance) is pretty slammed and a few others here are too...but not seeing them in person....

My question is, with that little of clearance, what happens if you bottom out, won't you hit the fender and fuck shit up? Or are those with setups like that, the douches who roll about 1.5MPH over any little bump in the road, in a daily driver?

Lol, if you're only buzzed you're not doing a good enough job of drinking!

To answer your question though, if you plow a big speed bump or pothole... Yes it will fuck shit up on a quantum scale, I slammed my old Talon a while back and nailed a pothole doing about 60km/h and crumpled/dented in my rocker panel/fender pretty badly upon exiting it.

depends on your setup. i found out with my 285's that i wasn't bottoming out; i was scoring the tires on the fenders. needless to say, i got coilovers to RAISE the rear.

imho, the less clearance you have, the stiffer your ride must be. since my personal preference is for smooth; my best option is trying to find some type of fender flares or widebody to try and "close" the gap.

If you're going to race the car then the mods make sense. Doing it to a daily driver is insane since it badly affects ride quality just so you van look "cool."

Slammed 3ses just don't look that good. The fenders are very wide so the lower the car is, the bigger the gaps on the sides appear. So the gap on top of the wheel you can get rid of by lowering the car but the gaps on the sides of the tires you can't really do anything about.

As has been said, the lower you go the less travel the suspension has requing stiffer springs and harder damping.

On a normal road a car that`s too stiff will have problems keeping up with a car that`s go compliant suspension.

I took coilovers off mine and went back to stock ECS suspension, best mod I`ve done to the car regarding drivability..

Definitely agree, I don't know why they made our wheel wells so weirdly shaped, oddly enough, no one has made anything to fix it with aftermarket side skirts, fenders and bumpers...

285s? What rims? I've been lookin into rims for the TT and want to go as wide as possible without sticking out, flush is ok, as long as nothin gets torn up, that's why I asked this question, since I see a lot of cars runnin flush rims that are pretty lowered
