Wanted to post here too since I usually get better answers on this site... I have a bit of a dilemma. I've got a perfectly fine turbo JDM 2 bolt with 57k. The engine ran great and the bearings looked brand new. All stock motor. I also have a 120k 4 bolt non turbo with normal wear for that mileage. Runs great too.
Keep in mind I have a power goal of about 600 and want as reliable as I can get since it's my daily driver. I will not push that power all the time, I plan to have an everyday boost level and a corvette killer level.
I've done everything else on these cars besides engine internals. Never plastigauged or swapped pistons ect. Scares me a bit since I've seen the results of poor engine builds.
Would it be worth it to swap the cranks so I could have a forged crank in the 2 bolt? What would be involved? My other option is a 3.5l but I cannot find anyone that has a ready to drop in motor. A 3.5l would be a much better fit for my 16g td05.
