Cool idea - and I was just at harbor freight yesterday. Could have acquired some cheap-ass wrenches for this purpose.

I do have 3 different kinds of metric ratcheting wrench and other BS. Hope I can find something that works. If not - HF wrenches will be bought and turned into a "special tool".

Yeah i don't get on here much. But I still have Red - actually had a good Texas "winter" of enjoying her in the good turbo weather. Put a spanking on a shit-talking friend's MK3 supra. Then this whole radiator/fan mess happened a few weeks ago, and looking at those 13Ts that have been on the shelf for years, I decided now is the time.

Best part is, I'm doing the upgrades under the radar as far as the local crowd goes. What's an extra 100+ whp among friends?

Once the mechanicals are back together, I still have a bunch of interior and electronic stuff to do. But that is straightforward for me.

You still playing around with these cars?

Nice refreshed door panels and Evo BOV.

Next will be a new windshield; get rid of the old pitted OE unit.

    Another night in the garage.

The rear heat shield wasn't nearly as much of a bitch as I thought it was going to be.

    Cute little 9Bs.... and a 13T in a bag.

Think I'm gonna order new o2 housing nuts, and figure out what I want to do for clutch/brake booster hoses. I've never replaced them and they're probably original.

I found the 3 bolts on the heat shield very easy. I can reach my hand straight down next to it and use a standard size ratchet 10mm spanner. My car is JDM/RHD so maybe there is something in the way on the LHD cars? Steering components or something?

Pretty much agree with this and mine is a LHD o. Once the O2 sensor is out of the way it's not too hard to reach down from the top with a standard wrench. I also don't have much trouble getting that shield in and out with the stock precat back there.

I didn't have trouble reaching my rear heat shield bolts, just getting the bolts loose without breaking them.
