Did you have to machine the head surface of the manifold, like a couple of us?

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

There is a very small in balance but I am thinking if I torque it down real good, I think im gonna be okay. I am hoping the gasket will absorp that

As a comparison it was prolly 10times less inbalance then the ebay headers that were being sold in the past, those just wobbled lol

I feel compelled to get away from the stock 72 crank. It just flexes so much that regular abuse at reasonable power levels (550-600 AWHP) is enough to crack it. The 74 has to be a bit more rigid thanks to the slightly larger diameter journals and based on anecdotal evidence, it seems to reliably support a bit more power... of course it's nothing like the custom Pampena/Merkel cranks, but at the same time, if something goes wrong and I destroy a 74 crank, I won't want to kill myself like I would if I destroyed one of the custom cranks. I want to drive my car a lot more than I have been the last several years and I don't want to have to even think about inspecting engine bearings or worrying about oil pressure.

What kind of power levels are you hoping to achieve with the 72 crank?

Are u talking about The forged 72 crank, cast, or both?? With those comments I can say I see a 6g74 in your future lol.

I plan to run the piss out of the 72 crank and hope for the best. Im putting a brand new crank in with my forged bits and hope to get 2 years of use out of it before needing to address the flex issues and bearing wear.

Im shooting for 700+ wheel, but the car will mostly be in the mid 500's i figure on pump/meth, maybe 600 if im feeling lucky or not.

I think ray offers a custom replacement not for the 72 that addresses the flex issues...Or im completely remembering something incorrectly.

I personally wanted to avoid going 3.5L due to having that extra potential just sitting there waiting to be tapped. Its just such another step up in supporting mods and further drivetrain issues im not sure id be happy with only sliding my powerband 500-1000rpms to the left and not adding bigger turbos and more power at the same time. The 6spd drivetrain is fragile enough at 500 wheel and im already eying 17x9 rotas with 26x8.5x17 M&H slicks for the track i already feel like i need to start stocking up on spare transfer cases...lol I already have a bellhousing brace and daves end case and will be installing the pampena 300m rear axles, so the TC is the weak link now...fail. So more torque i just see inviting more problems...

Has anyone fragged the 6 speed TC with raw power though? I always thought it was a shock loading thing. TCs are cheap anyway.

AFAIAC 6G74 is the way to go if you have the means to install and tune it.

We'll see, i actually use a lot of clutch when getting the car out of the hole compared to some people. Hopefully that keeps the gears happy. Trevor ran his stocker for-ever and i still believe he does despite breaking two or three transmissions.

I'm looking at this guy with a new OEM crank:
Pampena Motorsports 6G72 Stroker 3.5 Liter - Pampena Motorsports

I've got the drive train to tolerate a bit more torque, I think. I need to weld a brace into my new 5 spd (old one is braced but disassembled), but it's not nearly the issue that it is with the 6's. I also need to upgrade my differentials (brand new front/center, ~116K on the rear).

My goal isn't to make a bunch more power. It's to make a little more power with a much higher safety factor than I've ever had.
