Well after some wiggling, banging, throwing shit and a LOT of cursing the new rack is in. It's the f-ing devil! If it leaks I'm driving to FL and kicking the shit out of the guy that rebuilt it.

I bought my rack here.. great price and comes with new inner tie rod ends. (hope you didn't pay more than that)
1991*Mitsubishi*3000GT*Power Steering Rack Select Part from Steering Store

mine won't be difficult to replace though as I have the front sub frames off the car. Glad you got yours in.. I can see why it was such a bitch of a job.

No I paid way less but I'm using a FWD rack. My car is an AWD TT converted car with the 4 wheel steering deleted. Edit: I had new tie rod ends already. The new rack didn't have them.

I have all that stuff off. The bitch is getting the new rack mounted into the steering column. Make sure you you clean the splines off well if the people painted them. I had to take a breaker bar from the top and hammer the column onto the splines after I got it half way on.

Good luck man, Oh and you might want to buy new upper lines. I wish I did

Since photo bucket always arranges the pics backwards I'll just do this backwards.

    Mounted polly swaybar bushing

You can see it's a bit loose for my liking.

    Bending the brackets

    New rack going in

I don't like how loose they are. They are much much better than the stock crap but I have a feeling I'll be changing these next year.

Does anybody know if the FWD sway bar is smaller than the AWD? Don't tell me 3sx has them listed different. Only answer if you know. Thanks

ah, ok. Mine has the AWS delete as well but I still wanted to use the same rack.. I bent over and bought 2 of the special steering rack plugs from 3sx.
I ordered new upper lines, minus the big rubber one that connects the hard line to the pump.. that one is $$$
Thanks for the tip about the splines.
just to clarify the rack came with the inner tie rods, not the outers. I did order new ones of those as well.

No problem, you could have saved a few bucks but from what I understand is the awd turns sharper.
