Dimmer Switch???

Speaking of dimmer switches/rheostats, I just removed my clockspring while putting in an aftermarket steering wheel and now my rheostat won't dim the lights, everything still lights up though. Could this be a coincidence (it did previously work) or would clockspring removal somehow cause the rheostat to lose it's ground or something. Anyone have any suggestions, should I try to re-ground the black wire off the rheostat harness?

How do i take out the female connector for the plug so i can replace the mangled wire?

I think if you unplug those two connectors, there should be a tab that you can press down while pulling the wire out. Kind of hard for me to explain. And im not 100% sure its thats type of plug.

yes you are correct, i examined the connector with a magnifying glass... there was a little plastic tab holding the female pin connector in the harness plug.

The wire is worse than i thought.. it travels all up the harness... probably the whole entire wire needs to be replaced

well i replaced all of the burnt wire, and my dimmer switch STILL doesn't work.. i'm going to try and trace the other wire now.
