Keep two. Buy 2 matching tires. Sell the 2 non-matched tires to recover most of the money. Heck, try to sell them to the used tire place for some cash + free mount/balance for the tires or something.

How much damage would 30 miles have caused on my VCU?
Negligible hopefully, but I wouldn't keep pressing my luck.

Use this site to compare the 2 sizes and get the closest possible match. I think what you are thinking is prob the closest anyway. The difference between 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 is 1.1cm which is nothing. So I serioulys doubt you would have VCU issues with this combination. However I think it's a little pointless. I would stick to same size all round.

The used tire place is obviously too stupid to know how to figure tire sizes. They are too stupid to know that AWD needs the same size tires on all 4 corners. They should now be too stupid to get your business ever again.

Keep the 245/45's they are stock size. The 245/40's are more like for a DSM or something.

Okay, I guess I will just take the wheels off the car and take it to them to fix. I don't want to risk breaking the VR4 at all. Damn car is so delicate, you can look at them wrong and things will fall apart.

negative, ghostrider. years of being owned by incompetant people, or being serviced by incompetant people FOR clueless people--THAT'S what makes them unreliable.

people in the US think of AWD as though it's witchcraft, so it's no wonder why things like this happen.

    p.s.

285/35r18 will also work. both 285 & 275 are ~1.1cm in circumference difference--one slightly larger, one slightly smaller.

I love AWD, I just can't seem to stop breaking my VR4. I honestly don't even drive it, and things start breaking .
