Go with the Quaife if you can afford it. I believe supercar sells them for $1200-$1300. The OBX is pretty much garbage and even after Supercar reworks it the quaife is still 10x better.

As for the install that depends on the shop. Its' not hard to do yourself but it can be intimidating if you've never been in a transmission before.

Both front wheels spin essentially. On top of that it biases the power to the "right" wheel in corners increasing handling. I had one in my FWD transmission and loved it, went to a stock FWD transmission without one for a bit and hated it...not only the lost traction but the handling. When I put the AWD tranny in I made sure it had a Quaife in it. They're pricey but if you're serious about any type of tracking it's worth it.

Gotchya, yeah I want my car to be more well rounded and will eventually like to do some time attack, road course events.

I am almost done with my build for power modifications on a stock block using 16Ts and supporting mods. I think this is something I may want to consider for this next.

GET THE QUAIFE! Or stay with OEM. I put in an obx and it shelled-out in less than 500 miles. Cost me hundreds in new bearings. Plus the rebuild time. Plus the obx is now not usable (unless you want the POS, I'll sell it, Haha!). Quick story: the belleville washers collapse, the side gears hit the helical gears, and grind up a couple ccs of metal debris to eat all of the tapered bearings in the whole transmission. YeeHaw... that was fun. Plus, by design, the support for the passenger side axle shaft is so lame, that seal's going to leak pretty quick. I'll try to post some pics.

On the other point... "sounds kinda wrong"... I put in the LSD for snow. I do a lot of snow driving in this car, (el 8200 ft) and I think it handled better with an open center diff on plowed snow/ice highways. It would understeer on ice because the front lsd wanted to go straight on ice. Thought I'd throw that out there.

Without the rear biased SC center diff the front LSD is basically only a straight line mod. It doesn't let the car corner better. Like 91 rt stated, if you try to take an aggressive turn on throttle, both front tires spin making the car understeer even worse then stock. I bought the Supercar center diff but since my tranny is still perfect, I really dont want to open it up again unless I need a clutch. Might drop the car off at 3smotors one of these days for the work and a tune.

@Wraith - While my experience with my newly installed LSD is limited, I would highly disagree with your first sentence. Having done a lot of straight line and hard cornering tests with the LSD installed (just the front has changed), I would say that of the noticeable changes, the difference in straight line traction is maybe only 30% of the difference.

The car just feels so much lighter around the corners now. I suspect that because the front tires are getting better distributed traction, the car is being pulled around the corners more efficiently rather than inertia mostly pulling the car to the outside of the corner (from the weight of the car).

Granted, I don't know the condition of my previous transmission, so considering that the new one was rebuilt 1000 miles ago, that might also have something to do with it. All I know is that, I've never felt this kind of traction around corners and I would say that straight line traction has only marginally improved. Nothing else changed between transmission swaps.

*Edit: I also live where the roads are dry next to always. I haven't gotten the chance to test it under wet conditions and unfortunately, I might not be able to for months
