i went for a week or 2 without pins and by the violent shaking at 135 i would never do it again! it was bouncing and looked like it would fly up at any time.

This is probably the number one question i get being both a CF hood maker and a distributor for Aerocatch latches.

I always give the same answer. I have the very first Deft 575 hood on my spyder, and it has never had pins on it, mostly because I am lazy. I have never had an issue, but I always close the hood carefully. I also generally am not going over 90-100. The dude that went 135...wow. I can only say at 100, with the top down, it feels like 135 FG is flexible and CF is very flexible, so it should flex at speed (if it was overly rigid, NOT flexing would be a BAD thing). That's not a 'problem' though, that is just a known property of that material that you plan for.

Since I'm not racing all the time, I probably wont throw them on my spyder. If the flexing bothers you, sure, why not throw them on.. if you want peace of mind, they are a very small, easy to install investment! Do it!

Of course you only hear of the hoods that flew off, and not the countless thousands that didn't, but you don't want to be those few people unless you have disposable income!

BlueVR4, if you havent ordered yet, let me know, I'll hook ya up with a few $ off. Just remind me you're from 3SGTO.
