RPS or other pressure plate with an OEM disc will hold just fine at that power level from what I have heard many many times, and it's probably one of your cheaper options as well.

Spec clutches arent bad either, some people dont like them but mine never gave me issues, and i beat the crap out of it. I launched the car in second gear ( on purpose ), clutch slipped to the 1/8th mile, and it still worked after that.

I am with Austin, ACT would be a good choice. Ran that in SLTT back in the day (AWD trans) and beat the hell out of it. I think I was using an ACT 2600.

The act clutch looks like it would hold up really well but its far out of my price range im afraid. im already over if i get the southbend for 475 which so far is cheapest i can find at IPS site.

you can get the pressure plate for about $400 if you look around (search for MB019):

ACT HD Pressure Plate Stealth 3000GT - eBay (item 140481332910 end time Feb-19-11 2035 PST)

The stock disc is about $70 from the discount dealers.

Or if you don't mind the somewhat questionable clutch disc:

    F1 HDSS CLUTCH KIT w ACT 91-99 3000GT GTO TURBO 3.0 JDM - eBay (item 400187335732 end time Mar-12-11 1009 PST)

FYI the stock disc and act plate will hold a lot more than 458 ft/lbs. Probably closer to 550. The rps is basically the same and is rated at 585. I think it has slightly more clamp load.

What forest said ^ get yourself a nice pressure plate on the classifieds or buy new and grab an OEM disc for ~$70 and you will be good to go, plus it's way less expensive to replace if you burn up the disc somehow.

Thanks guys ill end up doing that, ill search here for some pressure plates and disks, know anyone selling some? ohh and when i was looking the kits came with some things i dont know about, some release bearing and alignment tool. will i have to buy them separate if i go with an AF pressure plate and OEM disk? im honestly just thinking about going with the second link you posted if i cant find anything else.

Edit: will i have to replace throw out bearing when i do this? sorry if its nub but never done a clutch before. i want to get it right the first time around.

ok so i looked around and sinvr4 is selling a spec stage 3 pressure plate with 7k miles on it for $100 and will give me a new TOB with it shipped for $170 total. think I should go that route buy a stock disk and then resurface my flywheel and be done with it?

Sounds like a plan to me. I'd deff put in a new TOB while you're doing the clutch and PP swap, and get ahold of a clutch alignment tool if you can. They can be had at parts stores for ~$7 or so and sometimes come with the clutch kit itself. Less headache in the future. I made the mistake not replacing a TOB once and it started ticking later on and really annoying me. Would be a good idea to resurface the Flywheel while you're at it too. Sometimes keeping things as close to OEM parts as possible = way less chance for expensive headaches in the future. I wish my car was closer to stock setup sometimes

*EDIT* Oh and if you're gonna be dropping the tranny and installing the clutch yourself get ahold of an engine hoist and look up "Gatecrasher tranny install method" basically you use the shifter cable bracket area and a chain bolted to it as a perfect balance point to lower/raise the trans back in and it aligns itself 90% of the way for you

Ok guys bought a used Spec stage 3 pressure plate with 4k miles the guy said on it for $150 shipped with a new Throw out bearing. so now i need to get a disk but before that I had one question to ask. exactly how important is it for this pressure plate to be smoote and even? when i run my finger acrossed it i can feel slight uneveness to it, very slight but still there. how much is too much and what can or should i do about it.
