put a straight edge on the plate, if you can stick more than a .007 feeler gauge in anywhere I wouldn't use it.

Post up a pic of it. Wear on the plate isnt necessarily a bad thing, but you do want to make sure its not warped for sure.

KD 161 DELUXE FEELER GAUGE MADE IN THE USA - eBay (item 260744921706 end time Mar-29-11 15:10:55 PDT)

You think that one will suffice? seems like it may be too wide of a gauge to really tell.

This one here in the center there you can kind of see a darker streak which i can catch with my fingernail, i assume that type of stuff can just be scraped off with a razorblade.

yeah just get a feeler gauge from the parts store like that. you want to try to put it in towards the center of the plate, when they warp they turn into a bowl shape.

I can't really tell if it is grooved or not from that pic, if it isn't warped and isn't grooved clean it up with some garnet paper and brake cleaner and you should be good to go.

Take it to a machine shop and see if they'll mill it flat (like a flywheel)

Ok called around to local machine shops and most are saying $50 for resurfacing the flywheel if its flat, 65-100 if its stepped (its flat right?) and I was told the pressure plate cannot be resurfaced because there are adjustments withing the plate itself that specialty shops have to make and disassemble if it were to be done and no one around here does it and said if its bad enough to need resurface to buy a new one... so ill just polish this one up and use the gauges and see what i get i guess.
