    vented hood mould

as some of you know i was going to make a mould of the old hood i cut and welded a few years back when gabber did the same mod to his with the eye lids on it,lasted me a year before it started to crack along the vents where i tack welded it,well eventually got round to starting fibreglassing this hood sprayed some red over the filler and then waxed it all up ready for the resin.
put a layer of gelcoat on first then started to build up the layers of fibreglass and strengthened with some wooden straps to strengthen the mould and stop it warping. heres some pics of the process just now before i get it pva'd and set up for casting.

Looks good! I like those vents better than the others I’ve seen that are more rounded.

    Damn that looks good.!!!!

I am trying to figure out a way to vent some of the heat out from the turbo's but not have to worry about rain and such! This design might be what I'm looking for. I might have to test this out with the spare hood I have!

    Check it out on Youtube!!

Whoah, looks cool to see the process. How do you mate the glass to the metal?

the glass will be bonded on then pot rivited round the edges then glassed and filled. thats the way my hood that i have just now was done but its a carbon section bonded on.was a damaged pit rd m style but i prefer the look of the louvered hood. i might even add in some r35gtr naca dicts on the humps.

answering the question about water,i had made two trays on the last hood out of a sheet of galvanised steel ,i bent up the sides and bonded them on underneath the vents so hot air still got out but th ewater that came in ran towards the rad. and onto that

any chance of getting you to salvage a scootie2 by "straightening" the vents?
