ROFLOL! I messed up my scale model last night drinking and thinking i knew better than the instructions

@Steve68, put a sock in it, you have no clue what you are talking about

Ive never used a reground crank before, the margin for error is too small, if its not done right in the smallest, youre basically screwed and risk of damaging the block

Take a look at one sometime. I have both a cast crank and a forged crank in my garage, the differences are obvious.

I've also spent some time recently regrinding cranks on a crank grinding machine so it's probably fair to say that I've seen more cranks than a lot of other people on here.
Generally you'll only find a forged crank in a race only motor, the reason being that they're stronger and less likely to crack. A cast crank is always more durable as the grain structure in a cast crank gives a better bearing surface, holds oil better and wears less. That's straight out of books too rather than the usuual internet BS.

Anyway, forged cranks, hydraulic lifters, hydraulic tensioners, they go hand in hand with cambelts for 13B rotaries.
They're just words used wrongly by people who don't know any better.

Spanish "tuner". Enjoy - Page 2 - Mitsubishi Lancer Register Forum

    Here's one for the ricers.

Page 2 has a pic of a standard 4G63 crank wich has a parting line same as a 2nd gen 6G72 crank, neither of which are forged.
Page 3 has a pic of an eagle crank which IS forged.

Just think? all those people who've forked out money to buy a "forged" crank........you've all been scammed.
