$2500 for a '94 RT/TT?

I found a guy locally selling a 1994 RT/TT. It needs valve stem seals (which he has) and he claims one of the cam gears is warped, which seems highly unlikely to me (since it's hard for something round and steel to get warped). It sounds more like a bad cam shaft if you ask me.

Anyway, it's got just under 150k on the clock and he's the 4th owner. He bought it like it sits now, and he said it starts up and runs and gears shift just fine. The 3rd owner bought it from a guy in Kentucky and it was just sitting. He says the body is in good shape with only a few dings here and there and the interior is good with the normal drivers seat wear. There is an aftermarket sunroof and he said they did a good job on it. It is red in color, stock rims, and tires probably need to be replaced.

He's asking $2500.. is that decent, or too high considering the mileage and issues? He doesn't know the rest of the maintenance history.

What's the mileage? $2500 for a 2g with average mileage is a good deal no matter how you dice it, as long as you are comfortable fixing any sort of mechanical issue that it may or may not have.

It's just just under 150k. I'm pretty comfortable fixing just about anything..

Offer him $1800, worst he can say is no. Even at $2500, it's a good deal if it fires up. lol

Well, he sent me some pictures and it turns out it's actually a 1st gen and he didn't know what he was talking about. The title is still in the previous owners name (he bought it but never did anything with it), and he looked at the title and realized it's actually a '92. That kind of changes things.. I still might be interested, but not for $2500 lol

I'd offer him $1,000 and see what he says. There was a non-running '93 R/T TT within the state that someone sent me a link to...I think it was around $450 & there were a TON of good parts on it, plus the car was relatively clean overall (clean title, IIRC). Good luck man!
