balancer info needed for 500+ hp build

this is mainly for those who are running 500+ hp setups, but is fair game for anyone who has experience with this product:

Crank Pulley Harmonic Damper Balancer Non-OEM DOHC 3000GT/Stealth*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth Parts

if anyone has this, has had it in the past, etc--let me know. good, bad, ugly? better or worse than stock? durability vs stock? etc.

i am NOT going to run a solid pulley; so it's a choice between OEM and this. need some feedback.

    thx!

Wondering the same thing. I'm about to pull the trigger on a new damper and would like some feedback on this subject as well.

I guess I should have been better with my post, With that much power you should run some type of dampened crank pulley. All the big boys run stock weight crank pulleys and flywheels to help the crank cope with the extreme stress. I remember there being a thread on "the site that shall not be said" about this exact issue. That being said I'm just under 500WHP and I run a Stock size lightweight 3SX crank pulley

I think he is looking for more detailed information like specific reasons to choose OEM over after-market.

Like Lithium stated the dampener is really needed to remove the excess stress from the crank when pushing that much HP. It lessens and helps control the amount of vibration going into the crank. As to which one to choose "OEM vs After-market" I would want to say after-market but it depends on the compound they are using for the dampened. We all know the OEM ones are prone to falling apart, but that may just be due to age. If the Balancers are still in production then I would say you should be ok. If they are out of production then they have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for god only knows how long.

I purchased a Stock Shift boot and it started to fall apart after a week. Come to find out it was one of those parts Mits stopped production on and it had been sitting in a hot warehouse for 10+ years. Might be the same issue with Stock balancers just falling apart after time.

    Check it out on Youtube!!
