i had the same thing, a previous owner had cut the stock plugs off and just wired it in. so i just bought a chunk of the stock harness with the plugs and soldered it back in. took a few mins but way easier in the end

Some people think they know how to install stereos when all they know is hack jobs.
When I installed aftermarket speakers in the stock locations I made adapters to plug into the stock wiring even though I don't plan on putting stock speakers back in there place ever. It took all of 5 extra minutes to do too. If people took that 5 extra minutes it would make life on future owners 100 times easier.

MMM not necessarily. Well yes if its a near stock stereo. And seriously if you don't know how to find what each wire does without a plug, you shouldn't be even touching it. Just as much as you are saying its a hack job if the plug isn't there, I see way more home attempts that are poorly soldered/crimped/mounted etc

^^^This. If your stock harness has be cut all you need to do is find you power, acc, and ground. From there on finding which speaker goes where is easy.
As for install techniques, I am a big fan of bullet connectors. I frequently remove and change headunits/speakers so they just make my life all that much easier![]()
