    3rd gen lifters?

whats the score with these 3rd gen lifters? i have fitted a set to the gto and run it for a hour turned it off and run it again, all in all 2 hours. and it sounds 100x worse than it does with the original lifters.

do they eventually quieten down or not? or is there a company making low priced (non gen) lifters?

feels like we just wasted a shit load of money for nothing.

i could clean the old lifters out and put them back in and they would run noisy for 10 mins max then go silent. why does this not happen with the 3rd gens?

Probably because you keep calling them 3rd gen lifters.

In all seriousness tho, it sounds like dodgy lifters mate.

How's the engine oil pressure? Usually if it's low, the larger bore lifters will make it worse because it can't pump the lifters up and keep up with the flow through the larger bore on the lifters.

Of the ones I've installed, sometimes they're noisy for a while, but quiet down after a few hours of driving. Others I've installed are silent from the get-go. I seem to remember a post a thread a while back about some of the so-called 3rd gen lifters being offered, mostly on e-bay I think, were not to the same height spec as the factory replacements, and were very noisy.

I thought that might happen. They are usually a bit noisy at first but after you get the engine warmed up and over 4k rpm they stop making the noise.

well i let it sit and idle then held it on 3k but nothing worked. i did notice it was a little quieter when i went out and started it back up to go out. but now its near on silent...apart from the TOB and a slightly blowing exhaust
