I can second this. I have a shark attack and it does not work at all. I have a hoop as well.

A toggle switch may be the only solution if I want the antena to stay down while listening to the iPod.
This kinda surprises me. I looked up the wiring config for your head unit and there is a power antenna wire (most decks just have a 'remote' wire that provides power to a power antenna or an amp, usually blue/white wire where the power antenna wire is just blue). I would think having those separate would keep it down when on iPod or whatever. That's the main benefit of having a separate wire for the antenna.

I thought this kind of thing would be an issue the last time I bought a new deck. I started trying to figure out which decks had that extra power ant. wire, but I decided it was actually better to just hook the antenna to the 'remote' wire to raise the antenna once when I turned the thing on, rather than having it go up/down every time I changed to a non-AM/FM source. Saves wear and tear IMO.

Again I'll state you will not find a better antenna. I have picked up radio stations that start to die 50 km's back with a factory antenna.
