while you're right to an extent, i don't think that's what's going on in this case. it's a drag car; not a collector car. purple is an accepted color for muscle cars (sadly, so is gold/brown). no, i really just think it's more of a shitty economy than anything else. even it had no green on it (which i actually think is a nice accent) it still wouldn't make any difference.

p.s.

it's because of the homophobic attitude people have towards automotive paint that i've already accepted that my car will be worthless when it's finished. built 3/s's already cannot command any sort of respectable price. having one in purple is insult upon injury.

...but it's not for THEM....

It has nothing to do with a homophobic attitude. It has to do with TASTE. You've already admitted in other threads that your taste is off the wall. Your choice in hats proves that.

now that's going a bit too far. it's ok to personally like some colors and not others; but insinuating that liking certain colors in general is "in bad taste" is just dumb. and that's precisely what you are insinuating, that somehow liking the color purple is in bad taste.

i openly admit my taste is different; that much is obvious--i don't care for red, black, white, orange or green colored cars. but there is a WORLD of difference between having unusual taste and having bad taste; and to a great extent, it has to do with how (for want of a better word) "tastefully" the work is done. you can "over-do" the red accents on a red car just as easily as you can on a green, blue or purple car--if not even easier.

for what it's worth, there are plenty of 2-color primary/accent combinations which work very well together. apart from the obvious "any color & black", red/blue, blue/yellow both work very well. green/red and yellow/red also work well; but are utilized less because of the established connotations for them (xmas and circus, respectively). orange/blue, purple/yellow, purple/green, purple/red all work very well together also--and to a smaller extent green/orange. the trick to making it all work has less to do with the choices of color than it does with utilizing them in the proper amounts (although to be sure, some color sets tend to not work well together (green/yellow or many other pairs which are too similar in pigment).

you can overdo anything in any color. THAT is what makes bad taste. liking certain colors doesn't fall into that category.

The only thing I insuated was that you had a DIFFERENT taste. Most other people don't agree with your taste and go a different direction.

I don't mind purple on certain, exotic cars, a Lambo Diablo can pull it off for example. But this Camaro just looks awful. If Liberace were slightly less gay and into muscle cars, he would own this.

Purple on a muscle car can look good. Some of the Mopar muscle is prrof of that. But all the extra accents are what ruins the whole car.

Thadd, do your car the way you want it bro. It does come down to peoples personal taste. You don't like the 3k green, I like it so.......
