    Questions for the week:

    HISTORICAL DATA:
    Ray P. ran 740awhp, pure pump gas on a 3.5L with 3082's

    TT Eric ran 609awhp, pump + meth, on a 3.0L with dr750's

matt M. ran 566awhp, pump+ meth, on 3.5L with dr750's (stock intercoolers & at altitude)

    THE SETUP:
3.5L motor, dr750's, FMIC, pure pump gas (no power adders PERIOD), all necessary supporting mods.

    QUESTIONS:
    1. how much boost could be run through this?
    2. what awhp numbers could be expected from such a setup?

From what I've read, TD04 is choked on a 3.5L, DR750 included. DR750s are a perfect turbo for our 3L motor. If you have the cash for the stroker, might as well do TD05 and take advantage of the displacement IMO.

Really looking forward to seeing what the DR750s can do on a 3L + FMIC + Methanol Injection. My guess is high 600s low 700whp max, with spool up times just above stock.

Yea, billet td05's would be better matched for a 3.5 stroker.

    tt eric already did that.

i'd also like to hear your source on saying that 750's choke on 3.5L. i've never ran across any info on them being run with a 3.5L other than matt having that setup on his car briefly. one good reason i could think of for not going "bigger" is that 750's are know to make power faster than 9b's on a stock 3.0L. i've yet to hear if anyone has found a (non td-04) solution for 3.5L which has the same results.

have people reliably hit 25 psi on pure pump? 15-20, sure. not saying it's not possible, but that's a LOT of boost for PURE pump for stock compression ratio.

Especially what SnakeSkinner said on that page (the creator of the DR750s), where he basically says TD04+Stroker is not a good idea. If it's not "choking" the 3.5L, it's probably right on the edge. Why not "do it up" and go TD05 if you've gone as far as getting a Stroker kit.

With products like the billet DR650s, DR700s, and DR750s, in 2011 there's really no reason not to just stick with TD04. Unless, you have a stroker and/or goals above 500awhp.

well that's a good question, nytron. unfortunately, i don't think we have conclusive numbers for PURE PUMP GAS on 3.5L motors to make a call on that. show me the turbo setup which makes power earlier in the rpm band on a 3.5L than dr750's do on a 3.0L; AND still has the capability of adequate CFM at redline.

(and to be perfectly honest, redline for a stroker is anywhere between 500-1000rpms LESS than what you could get out of a 3.0L. thus, a spool at 2000 rpms on a stroker and a spool at 2000 rpms on an OEM block are NOT the same. in this instance, the OEM block would have a more usable power-band).

i think this is the post you were talking about:

I'm prity sure a stroker with any TD04 is not a realy grate idea, only one way to find out. Next time I'll put in some C16 and turn the boost up and see were power stops.

The TQ being so much higher then the HP on a V6 is kind of a sign.

But these TD-04's are quite a bit better flowing on the Exhaust side then his 15G's were, his stroker with 15G's and stroker maxed out on power at 380whp at 25psi of boost, his was choKing hard.

and my power hardly drops off it just maskes 566whp and prity much stays there all the way to 7200 I think it dropped to maby 530ish.
you could very well be right. then again, if this is not being built to use power adders or race gas, you definitely won't need spare-tire sized turbos...

We have installed a set of to4E t3/T4 hybrids on our 3.6 we also went with a direct top mounted plenum to bring in the power band sooner. I would recommend at least a short runner plenum w larger throttle body to help out the larger turbos spool time. I wish i could post up some numbers but we still have to install the AEM and tune it. We don't have a Pampena like tuner just hanging out in Socal lol so we are going to give it a try ourselves. so what ever we post up on the dyno you know we could get more with a better tune lol
